Supporting a compassionate city through urban soccer placemaking

Supporting a compassionate city through urban soccer placemaking

“This is what a city is, bits and pieces that supplement each other and support each other.” — Jane Jacobs

At City Collaborative we are very interested in the bits and pieces of cities, and how they can be improved for a greater community. In this vein we’ve been fortunate to develop the ReSurfaced program, an effort to work with local partners to improve surface parking lots and large vacant sites through placemaking initiatives...

5-A-Side Soccer Field Under Construction

5-A-Side Soccer Field Under Construction

Daniel Sanders, Louie Adamson, and Patrick Henry are leading up our efforts to get the 5-A-Side soccer field ready for the fall activation of ReSurfaced: The Liberty Build. The 60' x 90' field will feature fast game play on a synthetic turf. The field will be surrounded by netting with shipping containers serving as kick boards behind the goals.

We are also working with local organizations such as Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Louisville City FC, and others to develop programming for the fall activation.

Patrick Henry Landscape Architects

Patrick Henry Landscape Architects

Thanks to Patrick Henry and his crew for once again helping to bring some life to ReSurfaced with a donation of trees as well as installation. Beyond being a great designer, the man has skills on the bobcat!

Patrick always brings a "next-level" of creativity to projects and we are looking forward to hashing out the next iteration of The Liberty Build as we move closer to the full build out of the 18-month long activation of the space.

ReSurfaced: Three Days at 10th Street

The next ReSurfaced is just around the corner, opening on Thursday, October 15th at 5 pm at the new location in the parking lot at 10th Street and the Ohio River. The space neighbors Connect/Disconnet, the city’s first public art installation along the River Walk. Though ReSurfaced: Three Days at 10th Street is only three short days ending on Saturday October 17th at 11 pm, we have packed those days with great local beer, music, art, food and community...

Mix Tapes - Guest Curated Playlists for ReSurfaced

Mix Tapes - Guest Curated Playlists for ReSurfaced

We are assembling a series of guest curated playlists from local musicians and other local figures to bring an eclectic mix of musical flavor to ReSurfaced each night from 5pm until the live bands or other entertainment starts.

The first Mix Tape session began on Saturday, curated by Patrick Piuma, Co-Founder of City Collaborative and head of the Urban Design Studio. Thursday, June 11th, we will be featuring Todd Brashear's playlist. You may know him as the owner of the beloved Wild & Woolly or the bass player of Slint on Spiderland. Either way, you won't want to miss hearing Todd's mix tape playlist down at ReSurfaced.

More Mix Tapes to come!
